Dena's Show Cakes
I love competition work because it forces creativity from the artist. There is no other place where a cake artist has this kind of artistic license over the outcome of the design. Cake shows and competitions stretch the imagination of cake decorators to take sugar art to new levels. I highly recommend that every cake decorator enter these type events to support them and grow as an artist.
Kim's Show Cakes
I encouraged Kim to take a cake to the show in Austin. Kim worked on her entry at home with no help from me, other than a little advice over the phone (not always good advice) Her first competition cake entered in the beginners class Wedding Cake category and she took a first place ribbon. Kim's flowers were fantastic and her cake looked far from resembling a beginner's class cake. She is very talented! Congratulations to Kim and I'm sure we will see many more winning entries from her in the future.
